Choice Organic Teas: Making a difference one cup of tea at a time
Since making our debut in 1989 as the first exclusively organic tea purveyor in the United States, setting high standards of social and environmental responsibility have been an important part of our mission. In 2000, we helped pioneer the Fair Trade tea movement in the U.S. by partnering with Fair Trade USA (then known as TransFair USA) to initiate a Fair Trade Certification process for the North American tea industry. Today we offer more than 60 Fair Trade Certified teas, the most comprehensive selection of Fair Trade Certified tea in the marketplace.
For every kilo of tea we purchase from Fair Trade Certified gardens, we pay an additional $1.10 premium directly to worker-managed funds, empowering workers to improve their own lives and benefit their community. We exhaust all resources to offer Fair Trade teas without compromising quality. You can take a closer look at some of the tea gardens we source from on the Fair Trade USA Producer Profiles: Chamong, Dazhangshan, Putharjhora, Sewpur, and Singampatti.
As part of our Fair Trade Month Celebration, we're pleased to announce our five new teas that have been selected to carry the Jane Goodall "Good for All" seal: Oothu Garden Green, Wild Forest Black, Decaffeinated English Breakfast, Rooibos Superfruit and Yerba Maté Mint. Together these form a collection of flavorful teas sourced from four different continents, celebrating the universal passion for tea. Every purchase supports the Jane Goodall Institute, a global leader in the effort to protect chimpanzees and their habitats. The Institute is also recognized for establishing innovative community-centered conservation programs in Africa, as well as Jane Goodall's Roots & Shoots, its international youth program.
